“This is a session for people who have a desire to learn the Lakota songs. For those who have a desire it will be possible. You will learn your song and retain it through techniques that have been successful with many of those I have taught”…… Steven Bluehorse
Steven Bluehorse is a full blood Lakota from Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota. He lives in New Mexico and travels all over the world as a teacher of Lakota culture and tradition. Steven has been a musician most of his life. He crafts drums and flutes and is an accomplished artisan carrying on the artistic skills of his people in many different media.
We are honored to have Steven Bluehorse spend a day with us to teach about the Lakota traditions through song. It is through the oral tradition of the song that understanding and learning have been handed down from generation to generation. Steven will guide the students through learning songs accompanied by the drum, the relationship between them and how to sing in harmony with the different drum beats. Each student will leave with a song that can be sung all the way through, a song that will be useful in many different settings.

We don’t all live in a temple, and we can’t devote endless hours to chanting and meditating. So how can we attain the same results as those who can? Come find out!
